Conceptualized by Chef Eric Upper, AFICI features contemporary American cuisine in a fine dining, yet approachable space. The multiple course menu showcases Italian and French flavors and techniques while highlighting local, seasonal ingredients alongside some of the best products from around the globe.
Scope of Work
D-Scheme Studio created architectural designs, managed project execution, and facilitated city inspections in preparation for new restaurant opening.
Creativity abounds in this restaurant. Mix seating for dining, bar, and lounge provide various experiences. Redesigned wall mural with modern feel of luxurious velvet and rich wood panels framing clear mirrors. Curved seating runs through the middle of the dining room adds intimacy and visual artistry.
Additional custom design features are shown from the wood panels at the host desk to the whiskey glass display at the lounge to the wine bar in the dining room.

The AFICI team worked with Marc Dimalanta of D-Scheme Studio on the design, reimaging the space, complete with pasta making station, customized charcuterie locker and whisk(e)y lockers.
Building on his history with Alexander’s Steakhouse Group, Marc Dimalanta of San Francisco’s D-Scheme Studio collaborated with the team to reimagine the AFICI space. AFICI is the first concept by Alexander’s Steakhouse to utilize interior design to bring the energy and activity of the kitchen and service station directly into the restaurant.
